Birds Singing In The Early Morning?

in WTF?

Seriously, WTF is going on. I know I stay up way too late, and back in the day I would be able to hear birds sing when I would try and go to bed. This would be around the same time as the sun was coming up, which I think is reasonable…probably around 5-6am. Not a big deal.

Lately something has seemed to change in these birds, and they start singing at 5am, 4am, 3am and a new and improved 2:45AM. WTF is going on?

My possible theories on this are:

  1. The light pollution from the city has them messed up
  2. This is a new breed of “the early bird gets the worm ALL AMERICAN song birds” who no longer sleep in like the birds of yesteryear.
  3. The world is seriously fucked and this is just one more of the side effects.
  4. I should get to bed before midnight and avoid these annoying insomniac birds.
  5. Maybe this bird was sent here to get me to go to bed. When the bird starts singing I need to get to bed?
  6. My mom suggested that maybe the babies are hungry and waking the parents up. I don’t buy it.

Since my mom has heard this, I am guessing others have as well. Is it isolated to the Chicagoland area? Is it happening by you? WTF is going on and how do I stop it?

Worm and Werty both start with W vowel r. I think no more needs to be said (or typed, for that manner).

This is happening in Palatine.

It is annoying but my daughter cries louder than they sing, so it all balances out.

maybe the bird is in pain. get yourself a BB gun and put it out of its sing-song misery.

I am writing an article about a lifetime of staying up late and recalled that, in the late 50’s, when I was a little kid in southern Michigan, I’d also to try to fall asleep before the birds started making a racket. I remembered it as being 4am. I just checked sunrise for those years in the summer and it was around 5:30a. I’m pretty sure it was closer to 4 when they started.

In Toronto here, they start at 4am’ish regularly, but for the past week or so he’s been starting at 3:45am. I say ‘he’ because it’s one guy. There’s like this, initial ‘war-cry’ I’ll call it.. I don’t know if it’s him or his compadre, but it starts as some kind of raptor-ess mini shriek x2, then this dude starts right in whistling like yankee f’ing doodle who just found some macaroni.

My theory is, he’s cued to start by that guy, and he does, and then he moves on, through the neighborhood on his daily route! I’m not kidding, one time I basically heard him refuse the initial ‘cry’. And I suspect the route thing, because I know for a fact he moves to set locations a few houses from here and continues on..

Gents and gals, what we have here is an unfortunate event.. We’re all at the got’dam start point for the bird(s) that start their wake up calls!

These fuckers are chirping away at 3:45 to 4:00 a.m. every morning and driving me mad. They used to start later but now have a hard on to start chirping at an ungodly time. I wish I had a loud gun to blast into the air and scare them off to annoy somebody else!!!!!!!

Birds across the pond are driving me insane and have been tweeting their little hearts out since the criminal time of 3:30am for us there are no loud guns but action must be taken to prevent this BIP (Birdie Insomnia Pandemic) from getting too out of hand. Quick before the French find another reason to eat something!!!!!!!

I live in Dallas, Texas and have had this very same issue for the past 2 years. My bird begins to chirp around midnight and stops around daybreak. I’ve managed to scare him off by pitching small branches at the tree where he hangs out but he always returns the next night. Very strange.

I live in Sydney Australia right in the city and the turds start at around 2-3. There’s a small bird and another one that sounds like a freaking turkey outside my my window. I think it’s the city lights. Also I tried yelling “shut up” and they didn’t seem to care much.

I know this is a REALLY old post but it started happening here about a year ago. I live in the UK. They start at 1am and even 12:30am on some nights! It seriously bothers me because naturally the first thing I think (still) is, “shit, it must be 5-6, it’ll be going light soon!”. Then I check the time and it really isn’t late.

Another thing is there’s a tree outside my bedroom window! So I basically have birds roaring into my face as I try to sleep. -_- People thought I was exaggerating until a friend dropped me off at like 12:20 and it sounded like morning when I opened the door. Oh and sometimes they stop at about 8am. The Simpsons was right when Otto says, “Birdsong; nature’s bring down.”. I’m tempted to put a fake cat in all the trees here.

Fuckers.

Hi.
May, 2012.
They start to sing at 2am here in Boston. Can’t sleep well for weeks now,

15 KillTweety 06.12.12 at 5:24 am

Here in Austria, Vienna these little fuckers shriek as if there was no tomorrow. From 2:30 am, the whole day through 11:30 pm. Total sleep deprivation. Can’t wait for winter.

16 Dawn 06.27.12 at 9:56 am

Why or why do they do that? Every damn day at 4 a.m. I’m going out of my mind !! They don’t chirp they scream. Or that’s what it sounds like to me . Can anyone tell me why everyday at the same time.??.?

17 PacificaPq 06.29.13 at 11:57 am

Maybe they are joyously singing out their territory for the day and they are glad to let all the other birds know that they are the #1bird for being the first bird up so they get to sing the morning song first that day. ANd here’s my more ‘out there’ theory….Maybe they are getting back at all us humans for all the racket we put them through all day, every day, with all our car, truck and bus noises, lawn mowers, airplanes, sprinkles, conSTruction noises,…you name it…we do it, to them, without a care for the peac e of the planet! At least the birds annoy us with a song …it could be worse, right?

I’m a morning person but this is rediculous, 5 am everyday in front of my window in New York. -_-

19 Dave 04.14.14 at 4:08 am

Stupid birds don’t know about daylight savings time! (sarcasm) But yes, this is a real phenomenon. I delivered newspapers for many years as a kid, and birds started singing around 4:30-5:00 am. Now they start up around 2:30 or 3:00. I live in the same part of the world still. I am typing this because they awoke me again. April 14 and been going on for about 2-3 weeks now.
