Well here is a post to take a break from all the ranting I have been doing and here is a little praise or two to a pretty cool site I happened to find the other day called Kiva.org – Loans that change lives.
Kiva is similar to the money loaning site prosper.com, but unlike prosper.com, you are not helping out people in the USA who are looking for loans to either repay credit card debt, renovate their home, etc, you are actually helping someone in a third world country start their own business or build up an existing one. It is pretty awesome.
I threw $200 at it to see how it goes. Supposedly there is a 96% chance you will get your money back, but seriously if it can drastically change someone’s life who the fuck cares about $25 here or there.
An example is that Maria Vargas owns what appears to be a small drug/general store and wants to invest in more product so she can grow her business. She is asking for a total of $375.00 for a loan. To me this small amount is unheard of and I am sure that the rewards to Maria would be far greater than anyone I could give $25 to elsewhere.
We will see how my $200 gamble goes, but either way I think it is a cool site, and I think people should learn about it. Here is a link to my Kiva.org portfolio

cool project, nice to make a change!
Once again, you’ve restored my faith in the human race. I just wish it wasn’t always a temporary feeling.
